Winter Park, Florida |
Winter Park Real Estate
Though only 10 minutes north of Orlando in Seminole County, Winter Park can hardly be called a bedroom community. It has its own bustling business centers and distinctive historic charm. Originally the home of Native American tribes who called it Osceola, Winter Park grew from a citrus community into a beloved retreat for winter-weary Northerners. Now, it has become a progressive city while retaining the quaint flavor of its proud past. Tree-shaded streets, art galleries, boutiques, museums, salons, spas, fine restaurants and sidewalk cafes are just a part of the Winter Park experience. Five local theatres offer a variety of plays, concerts and performances to suit any taste, and the public library hosts ongoing programs for children, adults and seniors.

Also proud of its opportunities for education, Winter Park supports six elementary schools, three middle schools and a high school. Other local facilities include two preparatory schools, a Catholic school, Crummer Graduate School of Business, Conductive Education Center, Florida Institute for Relationship Studies, Full Sail, Herzing College, Rollins College, Valencia Community College and Winter Park Tech.
Outdoor activities are a major attraction of life in Winter Park, and the city's Parks and Recreation Department has created a park system to please everyone. The 23-acre Lake Island Park has a large playground, picnic area, shoreline fishing, and a half-mile trail for quiet walks. For team sports, the park provides a lighted soccer field, football field, multipurpose field and two basketball courts.
Cady Way Park has nearly 67 acres for all sporting types: Little League, soccer, tennis, swimming, football baseball, softball, and track.
Athletes couldn't ask for more than Ward Park. Its 58 acres are primarily devoted to sports: baseball, football, soccer, track and a Little League Complex. Amenities include a pavilion, picnic areas, barbecue grill, and two walking paths. Community and corporate sponsors have also built a playground that's state-of-the-art and handicap-accessible.
Central Park, located in the heart of downtown, covers 11 beautifully landscaped acres shaded by oak trees and highlighted by the spectacular Rose Garden on the southern side of the park. Events held in the park throughout the year include the Annual sidewalk Art Festival, Summer Jazz Concert Series and the Olde 4th of July Celebration.
Recently renovated Dinky Dock is a family favorite that promotes water recreation with its fishing dock, picnic areas and barbeque grills, a sandy beach and boat ramp.
